Dr. Alexis' Favorite Things

for pelvic health

After years of treating cranky pelvises, there are a few tools I keep reaching for again and again. These aren’t just random Amazon finds or things that look good in a clinic drawer. These are the real products I trust, recommend, and have probably talked about 500 times in sessions (sorry, not sorry).

Whether you’re dealing with pelvic tension, weakness, nerve irritation, or just trying to figure out how to sit without everything screaming, these favorites are part of our mission to make pelvic floor care more accessible, less overwhelming, and way more effective.

Bottom line: You can live a completely normal, thriving, life. You might just need to be a little more proactive about your toolkit. So here it is: the stuff I love, trust, and keep in my own cart.

🪑 Ischial Tuberosity Pillow

Because “sitting pretty” shouldn’t mean sitting in pain.

Let’s be honest, when your sit bones feel like they’re made of concrete, no amount of shifting in your chair is going to fix it. An ischial tuberosity pillow (a.k.a. a fancy cushion for your butt bones) helps offload pressure exactly where you need it, without throwing the rest of your posture into chaos.

Whether you’re dealing with pelvic floor tension, post-op soreness, nerve irritation, or just trying to survive a day at the desk, this little cushion works smarter, not harder.

Why we love it: It lets your body settle without collapse. That means less clenching, fewer compensation patterns, and way more comfort for your bones and your brain.

Pro tip: Avoid the donut. Your tailbone isn’t invited to the party. Look for a wedge or contour-style pillow that supports alignment while still giving those sit bones some breathing room.

💧 Lubricants

Because dryness is not a personality trait.

Let’s normalize talking about lubricant like we talk about stretching—it’s just part of good body maintenance. Whether you’re navigating hormonal shifts, pelvic floor tension, postnatal healing, or just want to make things a little smoother (literally), lube can be a game-changer.

Not all lubricants are created equal, though. Some mess with your pH, others feel like glue, and a few just flat-out don’t do the job. We stick to options that are water-based, pH-balanced, body-safe, and actually pleasant to use.

Why we love it: Because tension, dryness, and discomfort don’t need to be your baseline. The right lubricant supports tissue health, comfort, and confidence—whether for pelvic PT, intimacy, or just making life a little less sticky.

Pro tip: Avoid products with glycerin, parabens, or fragrances—they’re not doing your tissue any favors. You deserves better.

🧴 Vulvovaginal Moisturizers

Because your vulvar tissue deserves the same TLC as your skincare routine.

Let’s be clear: dryness, irritation, and that “chapped” feeling down there are not things you just have to live with. Whether it’s from hormonal changes (looking at you, postpartum and perimenopause), pelvic floor tension, or chronic irritation, vulvovaginal moisturizers help restore tissue health and bring some much-needed hydration back to the scene.

Unlike lubricants, which are used before activity, moisturizers are used regularly. Think of them as a daily conditioner for your vulva and vaginal tissue.

Why we love it: They support long-term tissue health, improve elasticity, reduce irritation, and help normalize sensation without throwing your pH out of whack.

Pro tip: Look for water-based, pH-balanced options that are free of fragrances and unnecessary fillers. Your tissue isn’t high-maintenance, it just has standards.

💊 Hyaluronic Acid Suppository

Think of it as skincare… but for your vagina.

Hyaluronic acid isn’t just for dewy cheeks and 10-step face routines, it’s also a powerhouse for hydrating and healing vaginal tissue. These little suppositories are especially helpful for folks dealing with vaginal dryness, irritation, or atrophy due to hormone shifts, postpartum healing, perimenopause, or just life doing its thing.

What makes them magic? Hyaluronic acid draws in moisture and helps repair tissue at a cellular level without hormones, synthetic junk, or the dreaded burning sensation some creams bring.

Why we love it: It’s gentle, effective, and doesn’t try to fix one thing by irritating another. Plus, it supports your body’s own healing mechanisms instead of masking symptoms.

Pro tip: Use at night before bed to give your body time to absorb and restore. And yes, you can use it alongside other pelvic floor treatments (or just because your vagina deserves to feel good).

🫶 Ohnut

Because comfort and connection shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.

Let’s talk about deep pelvic pain. Whether it’s from endo, hypertonic pelvic floor muscles, CCI, or just a body that’s a little more opinionated, penetrative discomfort is real (you are not being dramatic). The Ohnut is a soft, stretchy buffer that stacks around the base of a partner (or toy) to create a personalized depth that actually feels good for both people.

Translation: you stay in control of depth, pressure, and comfort without interrupting intimacy.

Why we love it: It’s discreet, adjustable, easy to clean, and built for real bodies with real needs. It’s not about limiting intimacy, it’s about reclaiming it with more control and way less flinch.

Pro tip: Start with two rings and build up from there. And yes, it’s compatible with condoms and most lubes (water-based, always!).

🪄 Pelvic Wand + Dilator Sets

Because healing doesn’t always mean stretching- it means reconnecting.

Pelvic wands and dilators are some of the most misunderstood tools in the rehab world. No, they’re not just about “making things bigger” or “fixing tightness.” They’re about teaching your nervous system that it’s safe, releasing tension, and giving you back control over your own anatomy.

Whether you're addressing pelvic floor hypertonicity, vaginismus, scar tissue, or just trying to reconnect with muscles that have been holding on for dear life, these tools can be total game changers (when used intentionally).

Why we love them: They give you access to hard-to-reach areas (hello, obturator internus), allow you to practice release work at home, and promote autonomy in your healing process. And let’s be clear: you don’t need to push through pain to make progress.

Pro tip: Use with a water-based lubricant, go slow, breathe deeper than you think you need to, and listen to your body more than the instruction manual.
